On-Line Gaming Event of the season, 2017 Edition
Mr Eman Pulis, what can we all say, except it seems your about to do it AGAIN! Four years into your initiative and this coming year’s SiGMA event at the Ta ‘Qali MFCC Arena is likely to provided the new and higher benchmark for the iGaming Industry, new records will be set, the floor space is a total sell-out already, and most of the main hotels are crammed. We salute you Sir.
This year you and your team have marketed their socks off and created new concepts for the On-Line Casino industry to run with and evolve. Assisted by the iGaming Idol Events and the early adopter approach taken by the Malta Gaming Authority, who are actively opening up not only the eFantasySports scene but also investigating enthusiastically the Blockchain and virtual currency environments to ensure that Malta stays firmly in the vanguard of gaming progress.
I have a feeling this year the show will be “Totally Tubular”.
Meanwhile, Last Week
The explosive growth of the contribution the iGaming industry makes toward the Maltese economy was emphasised by the EY Malta Attractiveness Survey Results, presented on Wednesday 25th October in the InterContinental Hotel Conference Arena. The below Infographic will hit you up with the numbers, which are impressive and very important to an island economy such as Malta’s.
Congratulations must be extended toward Mr. Ronald Attard, EY Country Managing Partner and his capable team members, for all the hard work that goes into these events both in front house and back of house areas.
The main takeaway here was the clarity of vision the EY team had for the potential changes rapidly coming everyone’s way, and I mean everyones. These changes are Global in nature, so they will undoubtedly effect us all. Basically, when the Accountants and Lawyers agree on the message “Buckle up chaps, we’re all soon out of a job”, it’s time to sit down and listen.
Experts in Artificial Intelligence & Blockchain Technology presented some fascinating ideas; which really brought home the level of disruption coming within five years to us all. If you think Uber is a cool App, then think on this – a young adult of eighteen years age this year, is likely to be the last generation (in the developed World) to possess the need to have a driving license. In just ten years time this rite of passage into the adult world will likely be not needed, nor desired. Most probably to be replaced with the legal requirement to possess a Travel Insurance Smart Contract, providing the owner with the right to use an autonomous vehicle, from point to point as required and when required, for their personal collision damage and liability cover. Think ‘Total Recall’ Johnny Cabs, but without the ‘Johhny’ automaton driver.
Unemployed Lawyers anyone?
To get a handle on just how interesting this A.I stuff is, the tagline above is no exaggeration. With much of today’s professions already fully digitised and cloud linked, it’s only one step away for legal systems to apply the vast computing power available for document analysis purposes, thus reducing the tedious requirement for young lawyers to recover and research boxes of contracts/agreements over ‘X’ number hours to establish precedent or cause. All this can be done in seconds by A.I.
Same for Doctors, same for Accountants.
To paraphrase a well known saying from the Communist Party; ‘The Capitalists will sell us the rope we use to hang them’. Well, it seems the bean counters have stimulated the digital productivity and investment, to out count them.
Though not all are doomed. Those who are creative types and able to ‘Think without the box’ will still most likely be able to get by.
Meanwhile, the Malta Gaming Authority has not been shying away from the future either, bringing several options for discussion to the business table.
Having been inside the rapidly moving iGaming sphere since 2004, and having adjusted to the remarkable growth in Mobile gaming in this decade, they know a thing or two about keeping an eye on the horizon. Therefore we now have a ‘SandBox’ test, helping to check the services under construction for Virtual currencies, Blockchain systems and ICO regulation assessment.
All this and just last month the behemoth Alibaba held a seminar at the Hilton hotel to layout it’s vision for A.I Cloud computing services, based, you guest it, right here in Malta
All of which brings me back to SiGMA 2017 Nov22 till 25th. MFCC Malta.
Play Live Casino, Play Poker, Play Live Sports, Play eGames and FantasySports.
Pretty much everything an iGaming event should be and more, plus there are some serious social events happening in St. Julians after the show each night.
Plenty of Conferencing sessions with highly relevant topics, with a repeat this year of the ‘Dragons Den’ Start Up funding presentations by those all important ‘new ideas to market’ guys.
Meanwhile Steve Donoughue‘s has another opportunity to improve on his absence of last year (Hint: catch the earlier train!) – you were missed mate, hopefully not this year as well.
