ICE Totally Gaming 2017 | Casino and On-Line Casino Gaming.
ICE Totally Gaming 2017 that was held between February 7th and the 9th this year, yet once more the World’s casino gaming professionals, and assorted others, migrated to the London Excel exhibition centre and spent the best part of a week placing their own bets for the next year of business.
World’s biggest gaming show is another massive success
The continuing rapid growth in the on-line slots and casino industries has helped the International Casino Exhibition (ICE Totally Gaming) show expand each and every year for more than two decades now.
More over, it was very apparent this year that the marketing, promotions and development people had been really busy getting new product ready, with the company’s budgets adjusted upward accordingly – there was lots of money invested, many people engaged, and everything to play for.
What’s Hot? And what’s Not During the Ice Totally Gaming 2017!
Remember a couple of years ago when everyone was going to be running Bitcoin Casinos next year? Well this year there were very few new, different or really any Bitcoin offerings; now ‘Blockchain’ that was much more with it. Naturally all the smart gaming executives now know that the real trick to virtual fiscal currencies is the behind the scenes infallibility of the ‘Blockchain’ – so hey ho, ‘Blockchain’ was the bee’s knees this time out.
Meanwhile, in the hard goods section, we had the VR revolution. Well I suppose ‘revolution’ is perhaps too strong a word, so let’s go with “Wowoll”, which is where you say ‘Wow’ and involuntarily roll your head at the same time as tracking the action in the visor.
So there was quite a bit of “Wowolling” going on. Naturally some good, and some quite so-so products, mainly depending on the graphics being delivered. Though the JoinGames ‘KleopatraVR’ game was well received and was certainly in the top of the class. Which we told you it was before!
The ever shrinking Tables section…….
In an inverse ratio to the on-line casino growth, the Tables games suppliers and operators seem to fade slightly more each year, which is pretty sad.
That’s not to say that there were fewer roulette tables or card games about; just not on the previously dominant TCS/Huxley type stands. There were plenty of digitally linked re-worked versions around, though nowadays mostly found on the Remote Live Dealt offering displays.
For example new to the show this year was ‘Authentic Gaming’, who stream live feed from several casinos currently, and rather cleverly had a ‘media only entrance’ gaming event on their Live dealt streamed table. First prize being a rather swanky trip to a lovely top line Italian Casino.
Full transparency here: I didn’t enter, so wasn’t in it to win it. No, it was clever, because it means there’s bound to be more mentions of it in the other trades soon.
But the streaming is pretty good now and the idea was solid.
Stranger things……at ICE Totally Gaming…..2017
Sometimes things crop up where you least expect them to. The PST stand used to be the home of casino tables furniture. Though in the last few years things have evolved. This year, as last, Stephen Au-Yeung (Mr. Casino Games) had a couple of his new games to prove that the tables creativity world is not totally dead. When on the Thursday afternoon two legends were spotted discussing ‘creative stuff’ on one of them. Steve and, none other than, Derek Webb (Prime Table Games) were having a catch-up, they have known each other a while and, well if those two ever worked together, maybe the tables section would be saved!
On that self same stand there was another tables innovation; but this is cunningly disguised as a slot machine. Except it’s not.
It’s trade name is “Gravity of Gold”, cos gravity is used to produce the decisions – DUH!
So no digital RNG here, instead the old fashioned way; balls and gravity. Simple and smart.
The ‘SmartGameSolution’ machine is in fact recognised by the UKGC as a tables alternative. This is because the game has it’s results generated via a physical process which represents a deck of 52 standard playing cards – clever stuff, and shortly to be rolled out into the British market place.
Attention, Attention Please………..
To those of us who frequent gaming trade shows, it’s a given that getting a big attention grabbing draw for your stand/product/service (delete as appropriate) is all important. To this end no morals are ever a barrier, no sound system too loud nor light show too bright. So to raise yourself above the others, and excel in getting the average casino executives attention, is quite a challenge.
So let’s be creative.
Something I’d not seen before.
Yep, sand castle building, albeit on an industrial scale. Pretty good sand castle too, but the message was a tad lost.
Another creative touch, though not wholly original, is of course to attach large feather wings to young ladies in lingerie. Personally I think a can of RedBull and some Viagra would be just as good, with the added benefit of the wings not getting in the way!
However, the award for Marketing tricks that catch your attention goes to……………
A couple of really hairy Sows.
These two cuties were walked out from another stand at the same time as the highly athletic pole dancer did her stuff on the EGT stand.
They certainly caught my attention, and lots of other peoples too. Hats Off! to the Guerilla Marketing team who thought up this trick.
New/New is the New/Old………..
I’ve already mentioned a couple of things that CasinoSolutionPro found interesting, but by way of closing, and not related to Bitcoin, or VR tech, or even the latest re-configuration of Poker/Blackjack whatever. There was at least three stands who were show casing a ‘new’ game.
Yep, ‘BigWheel’, ‘BigSix’, ‘Wheel Of Fortune’, or whatever it’s called now has risen from the grave! RNG floor mounted versions it appears to be, but no doubt about it – definitely BigSix. For those of you who have not had the pleasure of dealing this game, do yourself a favour, and don’t. After half an hour the will to live begins to escape from your very soul, and after an hour, you develop murderous intent toward the Pit Boss.
So, all in all, the ‘New’ version is probably better off for everyone, and a ‘Win/Win’, now it’s gone digital.
For those of you who went to ICE, I hope you had a great show and got home safely.
For those of you who couldn’t make it – better luck next year.
